FSC
- Facoltà di Scienze della Comunicazione sociale
The
Faculty was begun in 1988, the centenary year of the death of St John
Bosco. In the heart of the plan there was a strong idea: to promote
competence in the various forms of communication
in order to serve man and to open up new ways to the understanding
and to the spreading of the Word, in continuity with the tradition
which inspired the Bible:
- For the love of my people I will not be silent, affirms Isaiah (62,1); - to the community of Corinth Paul writes: I want only to work with you for your happiness (II Cor. 1, 24).
The Faculty faces the new millennium with this spirit. The challenge is big, but the possibilities for service at our disposal are also great. The conditions are, in fact, very good: the sharing of plans, a community of study and research not too large (about 170 persons), an international character and a multicultural dimension allowing us to investigate directly the opportunities and limits of the globalisation towards which communication media take us (there are more than 35 countries, representing all the five continents), the availability of equipment and study materials, a new building constructed according to the needs of this growing faculty (hopefully ready by the end of this year). To realize its mission the FSC can count on the support of the Salesian Family, of the University in which it is placed, on the dedication of the professors and collaborators - Salesians, salesian Sisters, lay people - on the commitment of the students and also on the help of so many friends and past-pupils.
Stages of rapid development
According The European Model The European Universities have initiated an extensive process of reform in order to offer the young a better academic formation, to harmonize the many various existing systems, and to facilitate exchanges and collaborations among different Universities. According to the new regulations of the European universities, the first level of study lasts three years, while the degree at the second level is conferred after two more years of study. Also for the Doctorate two years (at least).

COMMUNITY MEDIA. The interest area of this specialization is rather vast from radio to television, from dramatics to music.
