Social Communication, Digital Media and Culture with specialization in Pastoral Communication

Bachelor’s Degree (1 year)

The first cycle of the Bachelor’s Degree in Social Communication, Digital Media, and Culture, with a focus on Pastoral Communication, is aimed at those who have already acquired knowledge, skills, and competencies in the philosophical, theological, and pastoral fields, either by completing the entire presbyteral training cycle or by holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology or Religious Studies.

 The curriculum offers a basic theoretical and professional preparation in the field of communicative mediations present in contemporary culture and pastoral care. It aims to prepare experts who can operate in the following areas of pastoral communication:

  • Oratories and Youth Centers, Schools, and Parishes
  • Communication, pastoral, and catechesis offices

 

 The Bachelor’s Degree in Social Communication, Digital Media, and Culture, with a focus on Pastoral Communication, aims to train the following professional figures:

  • media and cultural collaborators for general and sectoral pastoral care and educational agencies, especially youth.
  • operators capable of collecting, interpreting, and disseminating data and information useful to the life of the local, civil, and religious community, as collaborators of offices managing information and public relations.

 

Licentiate (2 years)

The second cycle of the Licentiate in Social Communication, Digital Media, and Culture, with a focus on Pastoral Communication, aims to offer specific theoretical and professional preparation in various areas of pastoral care, with knowledge and critical awareness of communication issues and communicative mediations present in contemporary culture, in line with evangelical values. It ensures adequate communication methods for the community and contributes to the formation of its members. It aims to prepare professionals capable of assuming coordination and responsibility roles in the pastoral communication of Dioceses, Religious Provinces/Inspectorates, Youth and/or Cultural Centers, Parishes, and Schools.

 

The Licentiate Course in Social Communication, Digital Media, and Culture, with a focus on Pastoral Communication, prepares the following professional figures:

  • Responsible/coordinator for the planning of overall pastoral action and pastoral communication.
  • Responsible/coordinator for the planning and management of information and public relations in the ecclesial context.
  • Responsible/coordinator for editorial initiatives (periodicals, books, multimedia supports, radio and television production centers, web production centers).
  • Competent communication trainers capable of promoting educational paths in the pastoral field to know and critically reflect on contemporary “cultural nourishment” and its communicative mediations.

 

Doctorate (3 years)

The curriculum of the Doctorate in Social Communication, Digital Media, and Culture enables the ability to conduct studies and research independently and simultaneously develops the competencies required for university teaching in the field of social communication.

In particular, research is promoted in the following macro areas:

  • Church and communication
  • Media and youth and/or popular culture
  • International and intercultural communication
  • New technologies and communication
